There comes a time when we all have to choose which path to choose to walk on and let me tell you it is not easy. There are two roads and we always have to pick one. When we were young we let our imagination run wild and when anyone asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up? It was so easy to say, doctor, police, army, teacher and anything that interested us. Now when the time comes to get serious and select our subjects based on our careers, we all struggle to choose. I have a friend, who is very lucky to have found her career early in life. And had no difficulty in selecting her subjects when she started high school. She is a wonderful person who connects with people and is full of life. In the future she will be a great doctor, who will help a lot of people and I am proud to call her my friend. I was never sure about my career options. My career choices are so many I don’t know which one to choose from. In the fifth standard I wanted to join the Army. Then later on I found an interest in English and decided to become an English teacher. Towards the end of my tenth I fell in love with traveling, not to mention animals. Around this time I also wanted to work with horses. There were three stabling on my farm for my neighbour and I loved them. I would stay with them the entire day if I could and decided to become a horse trainer. So when I finished my tenth, I had a long list to choose from:
- 1. Horse trainer
- 2. English teacher
- 3.Vet
- 4. Air hostess
- 5. Journalist
TWO ROADS
Even when you have no reason to feel stressed and can take your own time, the worry and stress comes automatically. Studying at home is stress free yet, I felt the stress that comes when you have to make a decision and you are confused to the core. So the first thing I did was make a list of pros and cons, then came the question. “ Where do you see yourself in ten years?” To this question my answer was traveling and helping animals. I thought this was impossible but when I researched it I found an organization called Vets Beyond Borders[VBB].This organization allowed you to explore new places and help animals at the same time. This was a perfect solution to my problem. I wasn’t too sure at first so I took a night and thought it over, also I asked Pavan Sir, who taught us in the tenth. He said, “ Whatever you choose, be happy and never regret it.” So I took his advice and decided to go with science stream to become a vet. Even my parents supported me in whatever decision I made.
Every night, I would read Robert Frost’s poem, for it was right you can’t have everything just what you need should be enough for you. Even though I had to choose from so many paths but could travel one. You might have doubts later but a wise person once said, “ Be happy and don’t worry.” and I followed his advice and never looked back. I believe if you really love what you do and are willing to work for it, you can achieve anything. I know some of you might disagree and say it is impossible and we can’t do it. And I am being too optimistic but we don’t give ourselves the credit we deserve. I hope this can help you. Happy reading!
